I love Pinterest.
However, I don’t love trying Pinterest DIY’s and having them turn out with either something on fire or looking like a kindergartner made it. Not that there’s anything wrong with kindergartners.
Most crafts on Pinterest don’t turn out as planned, let’s be honest.
To help out my fellow Pinterest addicts I decided to start a ongoing series on my blog where I test Pinterest DIY’s and let you know if they’re worth trying!
The first one I wanted to test was a recipe for Lemon Sugar Scrub. I’ve tried making sugar scrubs before, and they’ve never turned out quite right. Most call for olive oil, which I personally don’t like. This recipe called for coconut oil instead! Here’s the original pin that I found: Five Minute Sugar Scrub.
- 1/4 cup of coconut oil
- 3/4 cup of sugar
- 15-20 drops of lemon essential oil
We’ll start out with the coconut oil.
Melt it in the microwave for about 25-30 seconds.
Next we add the sugar!
After the sugar, put in your essential oil and mix it together. You can add more or less oil depending upon how strong you want the smell to be. Also, feel free to use a different scent, I’d love to try this with lavender or rose!
Once the ingredients are combined, it should look like this:
You can add more sugar if it seems too oily, or melt another tablespoon of coconut oil if it’s too dry.
Now we’re going to put it in a Mason jar or an airtight container of your choice. I personally love the rustic look of Mason jars! I live in the South, so we always have these on hand.
I added a square of bright yellow fabric to the lid of mine to tie in the lemon scent! This is totally optional but I think it would be especially cute to do this if you’re giving it as a gift.
I’m so pleased with how this came out. 😍 It smells AMAZING, and it makes your hands really soft and smooth. This is one of the few Pinterest DIY’s I’ve attempted that’s turned out well. So excited!!
Definitely try this one out if you’re looking for an easy gift idea to give to beauty loving friend, or if you just feel like pampering yourself a little. 😘
Also, I’m going to be totally honest with y’all right now. I took all these pictures in a closet upstairs because the light is so much better than the light in the kitchen. 😂
It’s so messy though please send help. I almost caused an avalanche.
And can we take a minute to appreciate that the sugar scrub matches my shirt? That was not planned, I promise.
All that randomness aside, I hope you enjoyed this! Like if you want to see more “Testing Pinterest DIY’s” posts in the future. 🤗
Love you guys,
